Tips to Crack IIT JEE Mains and Advanced:
IIT-JEE is one of the most prestigious exams conducted all over India. Up until 2012, approximately 5 lakh students appeared for this exam every year and only 10,000 students were given ranks, a result of just 2%. Now, in 2013 around 13 lakh students appeared for JEE Mains out of which only 1.5 lakh students were selected for JEE Advanced, and finally approximately 10,000 were given ranks, that makes it 0.77%! As a professional JEE counsellor, I would recommend the following 9 tips over and above course content for success on the JEE 2014.

- No shortcut to hard work: This means that if you want success then the only way is to work very hard for it. This is because there is lot of competition in each and every thing you do. Without hard work it is rather impossible to achieve anything in life.
- Right direction for your hard work: Whatever work you do in your routine, if it does not have any direction then the work done will be a waste. When you work blindly without knowing anything you may fail to get a proper result.
- Very strong concept building: If you study something a number of times but still fail to understand the concept, then in all probability you are not enjoying the topic. It is very important for JEE preparation that whatever concepts your study should be strong, otherwise you will face problems while solving questions as all the questions asked in JEE are application based. More importantly, the stronger your concepts, the more you will enjoy studying the latter topics.
- Speed with accuracy: In JEE you must have speed with accuracy, because generally papers are lengthy and twisted. Accuracy is required so as to avoid negative marking and thus reducing your loss. Speed will be achieved by regular practice and accuracy comes by paying full concentration while attending classes as well as while attempting more papers.
- Consistent preparation as well as performance: One has to be very regular in his or her studies while preparing for JEE. You have to work everyday without taking a single break for the two years. Also the performance graph should be consistent. This means every test you give during these two years should show gradual progress of your performance rather than zig-zag. This will give boost to your confidence level.
- Thorough analysis of subject, topics and test: Analysis of everything you do is must. Analysis will give you an idea about your weakness and strength. Depending on that one should work hard on weaknesses and improving strength. Test analysis is important because that will give you a clear picture of whether you know the subject or not.
- Disciplined and systematic approach towards studies: One has to be very organised in his or her studies. You study for 10 hrs one day and then don’t study at all for three days will not work. You should decide a particular pattern of study that suits you the most, and then follow this pattern throughout this two years.
- Positive attitude: With positive attitude you cannot become a performer. Negativity will result in nothing but frustration and failure.
- Burning desire to achieve the target: If you have a burning desire to do something then all the energies in the world will help you in achieving your goal. So set your target, be passionate about it and don’t look back!

Dont forget to study NCERT book and try to solve each and every question from excercise. Already told you that IIT only try to focus on concept. As there are only few days left for exam don't read new chapter.
3.) Time Management :-Please..please..please study hard now onwards.I know most of you are not dedicated about the preparation from last two years.Atleast study 14 hour a day(my advice)than only you will get an average rank.Distribute your study time into 3 parts for Chemistry,Physics and Mathematics repectively.
Only engineer know the value of studying at last level. If suppose you follow my advice than give 3 hour to each subject and in the last 2 hour try to solve as much problem as you can.
4) Don’t Focus on New Chapter :-Don’t focus on new chapter which you haven’t read.I am not saying even you teacher will also suggest you these thing.”Little knowledge is also injurious“.
Because if you want to study a new chapter for IIT Jee exam level than it will take around 4-5 days to prepare well(for average student). So don’t waste your time rather revise what you know.

Since 2013, for all the students appearing for Engineering Entrance Exam the weightage of Board Exam has increased. So it is important for all the students to know how to balance their preparation for Engineering Exam as well as their Board Exam. Most students as well as parents have the fear of not doing justice in terms of preparation for both the exams. But this is not exactly true.
- First of all you must know that 3/4th of the syllabus for Board Exam and Engineering Exam is common i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Maths. Most of the students preparing for Engineering Exams take Vocational Courses. So they have to study two new subjects apart from these three subjects.
- While preparing for IIT JEE ensure that you understand the subject very well. The concepts have to be crystal clear and you must have thorough in-depth knowledge. I can guarantee this knowledge will be useful for other exams also, including your Board Exams.
- The Main Difference Between Boards and IIT JEE: The major difference is the way of presenting the solutions. You need to practice that method through tests. By solving previous years Board papers you can gain confidence and present answers correctly under time pressure. Also students should take Board prelims very sincerely. With the relative result of your Board Prelims you can judge how to distribute your time between JEE and Boards. In this manner you can very easily balance IIT JEE, and Board exam preparation.
- No Gaps Allowed for IIT JEE: One important point all the students should remember is never have a gap in your IIT JEE preparation. This means you should not stop studying for IIT JEE while you are preparing for your Board Exam. You can easily take out 2 to 3 hours every day even during Board Exam preparation. It is not difficult; but you must be strong willed to follow this method. It is really important because if you completely stop studying for IIT during Board Exam then your confidence may become low.
